THE BAND

THE SLANG

// bio

The Slang are an American alternative pop-rock duo featuring singer/guitarist John Bobo and producer/guitarist Felix Nieto. Their sound blends modern alternative rock with influences ranging from The Cure, The Killers, The 1975, and Talking Heads, while incorporating elements of synth-pop, new wave, and retro-inspired production.

The band takes a distinctly independent approach to creating and releasing music. Completely self-financed and self-directed, The Slang have built a production aesthetic that rivals major-label releases while maintaining complete creative control over their music and artistic vision.

Rather than relying heavily on social media, The Slang prefer to let the music speak for itself—connecting with listeners through streaming platforms, new releases, and live performances.

While the studio recordings are created by Bobo and Nieto, the songs come alive on stage with a talented live lineup. Ejiela provides vocals, piano, and synthesizer, bringing her experience as a musician and instructor to the band's dynamic live sound. Steve, a producer and multi-instrumentalist, anchors the rhythm section on bass, while Robby drives the band from behind the drums, bringing both energy and a keen ear for shaping the live set.

Together, The Slang combine alternative rock, synth-pop, new wave, and contemporary pop sensibilities into a sound that feels both familiar and distinctly their own.
